SATELLITES-SEEKING GREAT HEIGHTS!!!!

I am interested in SATELLIES because from right from childhood i used to wonder how satellite takes off and wat it does????
For all these unanswered thoughts i took up the interest to find out more.....I am a Software engineer by profession,took up engineering in Electronics And Communication though;)...its here that i grasped some facts like what is transponder,load capacity etc etc etc.. After reading "Wings Of Fire" an Autobiography of APJ Kalam ,i came to know a lot of difficulties faced by him and his team, my craze has doubled to know more about this since then....After all this.....ISRO has and is been my dream,hoping to make it there one DAY!!!
